Students routinely need permits to enroll in Chemistry and Biochemistry department courses for a variety of reasons. Please consult your academic advisor, who can request a course permit through the website linked below. If your permit pertains to work you have completed at other institutions, make sure that you provide the department with as much information as possible about the course (transcript, course description/syllabus) to help the department with their review.

Students interested in declaring a major housed in the Chemistry are Biochemistry department are encouraged to contact the department at chemistry@nku.edu to schedule an appointment with a department advisor. Please note that there are entry requirements for majors in our department (no academic deficiencies based on current Â鶹´«Ã½Porn definitions, and an ACT Math score of 22 or higher, or equivalent), and those students not initially meeting these requirements must first satisfy them by completing appropriate chemistry and/or math courses.
All students with a major housed in the College of Arts and Sciences are required to meet with an advisor every term prior to registration to review graduation requirements and their upcoming schedule, as well as progress for career planning. Advising information is available on the department major Canvas site (contact the department if you do not have access).
