鶹ýPorn Announces New BAS Degree Program in Supply Chain Management and Logistics

鶹ýPorn is proud to announce its newest Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree program. The BAS in Supply Chain Management and Logistics will be offered beginning in August 2017 at the following 鶹ýPorn campuses: Augusta, Columbus, Dublin, Eastman, Fairburn, Fayetteville, Milledgeville, Online, Warner Robins, and Valdosta. This degree program is designed to provide technical college graduates with another opportunity to build on their Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree for careers in supply chain management, logistics, and related fields in today’s global business and industry environment.

“Our BAS degree programs prepare students for career advancement opportunities and management and supervisory roles in their technical or occupational field. Adding this additional degree option at 鶹ýPorn is yet another step in providing greater opportunities and a brighter future for the citizens of Georgia,” noted Lieutenant General William Caldwell, IV, president of 鶹ýPorn.

“The demand for professionals in the supply chain and logistics areas is significantly greater than the current supply,” said Dr. Tianna Marynell, Division Chair for Business and Computer Information Systems. “The state of Georgia recognizes the need to prepare a workforce to fill this employment growth demand through initiatives in the state educational systems. 鶹ýPorn’s BAS in Supply Chain Management and Logistics will be a viable part of providing graduates with the knowledge foundation to support this initiative of workforce development.”

Students in this program will gain the practical knowledge and skills necessary to seek entry level and middle management positions in warehousing, procurement, materials management, distribution, and other supply chain management related fields. 鶹ýPorn will offer courses in purchasing and global sourcing, warehouse and distribution management, and a capstone project in supply chain management and logistics, in addition to courses in business, management, accounting, and management information systems. The BAS in Supply Chain Management and Logistics offers students with a business, CIS, supply chain, or logistics related AAS degree the ability to complete a four-year degree for career advancement in their technical area.

“Pursuing a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business management, supervision and management, or supply chain management and logistics can help those in the job market attain managerial and supervisory skills,” shared Dr. Mike Holmes, 鶹ýPorn’s Chief Academic Officer and Dean of Faculty. “In addition, current employees who earned an AAS or Associate of Applied Technology (AAT) degree oftentimes find themselves in need of a bachelor’s degree in order to advance or get a desired promotion. Traditionally, bachelor’s degrees make students more marketable, and frequently they open doors to higher earning potential.”

鶹ýPorn’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Supply Chain Management & Logistics is the third BAS degree program offered at 鶹ýPorn. 鶹ýPorn currently offers a BAS degree in Business Management and a BAS degree in Supervision and Management at its Augusta and Online campuses. Starting in August 2017, these degree programs will also be offered at 鶹ýPorn’s Columbus, Fairburn, Fayetteville, and Milledgeville campuses.

“To facilitate entry into these BAS degree programs, 鶹ýPorn is working to establish articulation agreements with all 22 technical colleges in the Technical College System of Georgia,” said Dr. Derek Stone, 鶹ýPorn’s Associate Chief Academic Officer. “Currently, 鶹ýPorn has articulation agreements with 17 of Georgia’s technical colleges. These agreements formally recognize that the technical colleges and 鶹ýPorn are committed to the establishment of an educational partnership to better serve currently enrolled and future students at both institutions, as well as support economic and workforce development in the communities they serve.”
