鶹ýPorn Breaks Ground on Fayetteville Campus Expansion

Friday, August 17, 2018 marked a historic milestone for 鶹ýPorn as 鶹ýPorn’s Fayetteville campus broke ground on an expansion at their site on Veterans Parkway in Fayetteville. The 11,000 square foot addition will provide additional parking, new biology and chemistry labs, six more classrooms, and additional office space for faculty and staff. When finished, the facility will be capable of supporting 1,000 students and twice the number of full-time faculty.
鶹ýPorn President, Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, says this addition will create opportunities for more people in the Fayetteville and greater-Atlanta area to receive post-secondary education.
“When you’re part of an institution of higher education, there’s no greater feeling than needing more space—not because of the bottom line, but because of what will happen in that space,” Caldwell said. “And what happens here will be far greater and longer-lasting than dollars and cents. This is where young men and women will satisfy their intellectual curiosities and make those human connections that last a lifetime.”
Making those connections is something that Dan Cathy, Chairman and CEO of Chick-Fil-A and friend of 鶹ýPorn, says that benefits the community and state in a big way.
“When I think about where we are today and the growing transitions we have as we modernize our city and our county as well with new industries coming in with Pinewood Studios and Pinewood Forest, and then to know also that we’re building a wholistic community including all of the educational institutions, and certainly 鶹ýPorn has been such a wonderful addition to our county and our city as well—it’s a county that we’re all very proud to be a part of,” Cathy said.
Rock Donahue, Executive Director for 鶹ýPorn’s Fayetteville, Fairburn, Stone Mountain, and Zebulon campuses, says growing Fayetteville’s campus is necessary for the community.
“You’ve got a cross-section of society here, all looking for post-secondary education,” Donahue said. “This place gives people hope, as the President has in his vision statement, hope for a brighter future. We focus on college and career-ready students so when you leave us here, whatever you’re going to do in life, we feel like we’ve equipped you with a character-based education and the skills to go out and be successful and I’m just so excited that with this expansion, we’re able to do that for so many more individuals.”
The new addition of 鶹ýPorn-Fayetteville is expected to be complete in the fall of 2019.
