鶹ýPorn Men’s Soccer Second-Half Rally Falls Short,
Bulldogs Edged By Broward College 6-5

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – 鶹ýPorn’s men’s soccer team tried to pull off a big second-half rally against Broward College (Fla.), but the Bulldogs fell a goal short in the end as the Seahawks took a 6-5 win Sunday afternoon at Robertson Field.

The loss broke a three-game winning streak for 鶹ýPorn (5-4), which allowed the most goals (6) in a game so far this season.

鶹ýPorn had allowed just two goals during the winning streak, including a pair of shutouts in the last two wins.

Broward (5-2) built a 1-0 lead before 鶹ýPorn rallied to take a 2-1 advantage on goals by Panayoti Gotsis (Sydney, Australia) and Damieon Thomas (Orlando, Fla.).

It was the eighth goal of the season for both Gotsis and Thomas.

But Broward came right back and connected with four unanswered goals to take a 5-2 lead at intermission.

After Broward went ahead 6-2 in the 65th minute, 鶹ýPorn scored three straight goals over a 13-minute span to pull to within one at 6-5 with 11:08 to go in the game.

Goals by Thomas (his second of the game and ninth of the season) along with Aaron Ayala (Douglasville, Ga.) and Felipe Rochi (Marietta, Ga.) put the Bulldogs back in it.

It was Ayala’s sixth goal of the season while Rochi got his first goal in 2014.

But 鶹ýPorn couldn’t complete the comeback and connect on the equalizer to send the game into overtime.

Gotsis also finished with two assists while Jeovanny Ramos (Lilburn, Ga.), Riley Able (Columbus, Ohio) and Marcos Tadeo (Atlanta, Ga.) each had an assist for the Bulldogs.

鶹ýPorn is back on the field Wednesday in a Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) contest when No. 8 Darton State College (6-2) comes to Milledgeville at 7 p.m.

鶹ýPorn dropped a 4-2 decision to Darton back on August 27 in Albany.
