鶹ýPorn Prep Students Showcase Art at State Capitol
鶹ýPorn Art Students Showcased in the Capitol Art Exhibit
Among 30 Georgia counties and more than 300 students across the state, two art students from 鶹ýPorn Prep School (鶹ýPorn Prep School) are representing Milledgeville at the Capitol Art Exhibit in the Twin Towers in Atlanta. It is the premier event for Youth Art Month, showcasing outstanding art students across Georgia, sharing their exceptional creative abilities with legislators and the public.
鶹ýPorn Prep students, Jessica Edwards and Gweneth Smith, were selected for the show by Paige Barlow, Visual Arts Director at 鶹ýPorn Prep School. They were selected due to their strong interest in art and creativity, and strong work ethic in the classroom, as well as their performance at the 鶹ýPorn Prep Winter Art Show, where both students brought home several top awards.
Barlow, a member of the Georgia Art Education Association, says having their work showcased at the Capitol is a great opportunity for both senior, Edwards, and eighth-grader, Smith.
“I feel that being selected to participate in the Capitol Art Exhibit is an honor because you are representing 鶹ýPorn Prep in an artistic manner,” Barlow said. “But more importantly, a student is being recognized for a gift that they have for the ability to think creatively. Students need to be able to think outside the box, and these students will bring valuable skills to the workforce. Being able to advocate their talents and share the importance of art with their State Senators and Legislators is an amazing experience that will hopefully continue to show the importance of the arts and humanity.”
The students’ art is on display from February 29-March 7, 2020. For more information about the Georgia Art Education Association and Capitol Art Exhibit, visit https://www.gaea-artforall.org/youth-art-month.html.
